Equipment

  • Large pitcher or glass jug
  • Sharp knife for slicing fruit
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups
  • Long spoon for stirring
  • Citrus juicer (optional but helpful)
  • Serving glasses
  • Ice cube tray or ice bucket

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle 750 ml dry red wine
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup simple syrup adjust to taste
  • ¼ cup blackberry liqueur or berry juice
  • 1 cup chilled sparkling water or soda
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

Step 1 — Prepare the fruit

  • Wash the blackberries thoroughly. Slice the orange and lemon into thin rounds. I sometimes halve the slices so they fit nicely in glasses later.

Step 2 — Build the base

  • Add the blackberries and citrus slices to a large pitcher. Pour in the red wine slowly, followed by orange juice and simple syrup. Stir gently with a long spoon.

Step 3 — Enhance flavor

  • Add the blackberry liqueur or berry juice. This step deepens the color and gives that signature berry aroma that defines the Outback Blackberry Sangria Recipe experience.

Step 4 — Chill

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2–4 hours. Overnight is even better. This resting time allows the fruit to infuse the liquid completely.

Step 5 — Finish and serve

  • Before serving, stir in sparkling water or soda. Add ice to glasses, pour the sangria, and include some fruit in each serving.
  • Take a moment here — admire the color, breathe in the aroma, and enjoy the first sip.
