Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Tongs
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring spoons
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Citrus zester or grater
  • Lemon juicer
  • Meat thermometer (optional but helpful)

Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Optional for Extra Flavor

  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Lemon slices for garnish
  • Extra butter for the sauce

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

  • Pat the chicken breasts dry using paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick better and allows the chicken to develop a golden crust.
  • If the chicken breasts are very thick, slice them horizontally or pound them gently to an even thickness. Even chicken cooks more evenly and stays juicy.

Step 2: Season Everything Well

  • In a small bowl, combine:
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Lemon pepper seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Paprika
  • Lemon zest
  • Rub the seasoning mixture all over the chicken breasts.
  • Don’t be shy with the seasoning. Chicken breasts really soak up flavor beautifully.

Step 3: Heat the Pan

  • Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and butter.
  • Once the butter melts and starts sizzling lightly, place the chicken breasts into the pan.
  • You should hear that satisfying sizzle immediately.

Step 4: Cook the Chicken

  • Cook the chicken for about 5–7 minutes on the first side without moving it too much. This helps create a golden crust.
  • Flip the chicken and cook another 5–7 minutes on the second side until fully cooked.
  • The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).

Step 5: Add Lemon and Garlic

  • Reduce the heat slightly. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Pour in the fresh lemon juice and let everything simmer for 1–2 minutes.
  • The sauce becomes buttery, lemony, and incredibly aromatic.

Step 6: Finish and Serve

  • Sprinkle fresh parsley over the chicken and add lemon slices if desired.
  • Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. This keeps the juices inside the meat.
  • Serve warm and enjoy every juicy bite.
