Here’s everything you’ll need to make this comforting dish.
- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 slices bacon chopped
- 1 medium yellow onion diced
- 2 cans 28 ounces total baked beans
- 1 can 15 ounces kidney beans, drained
- 1 can 15 ounces pinto beans, drained
- ¾ cup barbecue sauce
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
Optional toppings:
- Chopped parsley
- Extra bacon
- Shredded cheddar cheese
Step 1: Cook the Bacon
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Place the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until crispy and golden brown.
Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate. Leave about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the skillet for extra flavor.
Step 2: Brown the Ground Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet with the bacon grease.
Cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Add the diced onion and continue cooking until the onions become soft and translucent.
Drain excess grease if needed.
Step 3: Add the Seasonings
Step 5: Combine Everything
Step 6: Bake
Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until hot, bubbly, and slightly caramelized around the edges.
If you like thicker beans, bake an extra 10 minutes.
